At FEIH’s 10th Anniversary Cocktails with a View fundraiser, held on June 12, 2025, we proudly honored three extraordinary young individuals who exemplify the spirit of service, leadership, and global citizenship. As part of our ongoing tradition to recognize youth who contribute meaningfully to our mission, this year we celebrated the dedication and impact of Evan Contant, Sofia Terjanian, and Anabella Davis.

Kicking Off Change: Sofia Terjanian & Anabella Davis

Sofia Terjanian and Anabella Davis, rising seniors at the Bronxville School, began their journey with FEIH as middle schoolers. United by their love for soccer—Sofia as a passionate player and Anabella with deep ties to her Honduran heritage—they saw an opportunity to make a difference. Their initiative began with a simple but powerful idea: collect gently used soccer equipment for children at FEIH schools in Honduras.

Over the past four years, their grassroots effort has grown into a community-wide campaign. They’ve mobilized support through school and town soccer organizations, organized collections during Bronxville’s Take Back Day, and established a permanent donation bin at local sports store Soccer Rugby & Imports. Their efforts have resulted in hundreds of cleats, uniforms, balls, and other gear making their way to FEIH students—children who would otherwise play barefoot and without access to proper equipment.

In Honduras, soccer isn’t just a game—it’s a cultural cornerstone. Thanks to Sofia and Anabella’s dedication, children are now able to fully participate in this beloved sport, fostering joy, teamwork, and community pride. For many of these students, receiving a soccer ball or a pair of cleats is a moment of pure elation—“like Christmas and their birthday all rolled into one.”

Circulo de Libros: Bringing Stories to Life

Anabella’s contributions didn’t stop with soccer. In her sophomore year, she launched Circulo de Libros (Circle of Books), a virtual reading program connecting her with 4th and 5th grade students at two FEIH schools. As a bilingual book lover who rereads the Harry Potter series each year, Anabella was eager to share her love of literature.

Using WhatsApp video calls, Anabella reads Spanish picture books to small groups of children, igniting their imaginations and nurturing a love for storytelling. In communities with no public libraries or bookstores, this simple act of reading together becomes transformative. Her students eagerly ask for stories about dragons and princesses—proof of the magic she’s sparked.

Last summer, Anabella traveled to Honduras and met her reading groups in person. She brought Spanish books, cushions, mats, and stools to help create cozy reading nooks in both schools. Inspired by her passion, one school even converted an entire classroom into its very first library, complete with hand-painted murals and shelves of books. Anabella’s in-person reading sessions were moments of pure joy, with children hanging on every word of the dragon tales she had brought to life.

A Mission to Support Education: Evan Contant

Evan Contant, a recent graduate of Horace Mann School, joined an FEIH trip to Honduras the summer before his junior year—a trip that proved to be life-changing. Evan attended the inauguration of FEIH’s 19th school in Copán, served as a flag bearer at the CopaFEIH Soccer Tournament, and put his Spanish skills to use as a translator for his father and FEIH Board Member, John Contant.

Moved by what he experienced, Evan returned home determined to make a difference. He launched a school supply drive, creating an Amazon wish list that he shared across his community. The response was overwhelming: backpacks, calculators, rulers, and countless school supplies were donated and sent to Honduras, providing FEIH students with the tools they need to succeed.

Honoring the Next Generation of Changemakers

At FEIH, we believe that young people can be powerful agents of change. Sofia, Anabella, and Evan have demonstrated how passion, creativity, and commitment can transform lives and communities. We are proud to celebrate their contributions and grateful for their continued partnership in building a brighter future for the children of Honduras.
